The Tux Alps

The Tux Alps are a part of the Central Alps, Südtirol begins in the south, while Tirol begins in the north. These mountains which are around 2500 metres altitude are surrounded by the Inntal in the north, Wipptal in the west and Zillertal in the east. The Tux Alps are easily accessible and provide a superb view to the Karwendel mountain range. One summit follows another.
Green mountain ridges characterise the Tux Alps, which have a large stock of Swiss stone pine and wonderful Alpine roses.
In times past the smugglers’ path ran from north to south across the Tux Alps. Today the transversal section of the Transalp Challenge – is a very popular mountain bike tour across the Alps. However hikers also head from north to south. The Tux Alps are an ideal hiking area thanks to their relatively gently formed mountains. Mountain bikers and Nordic Walkers also get their money’s worth on the large route network. In winter there are ski pistes, numerous toboggan runs, snow-shoe routes and ski tour routes which provide a special winter experience.
