Our holidayregion as a filming location
Schwarzenegger loves 'Kaiserschmarrn'
You are sure to have seen motives from Silberregion Karwendel maybe without even realising! On TV.
Film crews from many TV broadcast networks from lots of countries have discovered that Silberregion Karwendel is a superb backdrop for films. A team from Bavarian TV hiked on the Adlerweg through the Karwendel. Many other television crews have taken a close look at Alpine farming in the Eng and have filmed so many documentaries in the Karwendel.
An Indian film team even use the acorn forest floor as a picturesque setting for a film, which was not just shown in cinemas in India, but also in Canada, the USA and the UK.
Judith Hildebrandt, Josephine, Raphael Vogt (well known from 'Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten'), Matthias Dietrich ('Verliebt in Berlin') and 'Musikantenstadl' senior figure Karl Moik stood in front of the camera for the ZDF production 'Der Traum meines Lebens' and other films in Schwaz and other locations.
For several weeks the 'scene' procession with Harald Krassnitzer nestled into the Tux Alps in Silberregion Karwendel. Among those honoured with these 'scenes of crime' was the district town of Schwaz and the 'Loas' on the Hochpillberg.
Schloss Tratzberg (Stans) is also a popular backdrop for films. The splendid castle buildings which belong to Ulrich Graf Göess-Enzenberg have twice been used as a scene for a SOKO Kitz production featuring Kristina Sprenger in the main role and for the follow-up of 'Hart aber herzlich' - there was even a Hollywood guest in the castle.
One of the greats from the film business was for years a regular visitor to the Silberregion: Ex-Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger. Hinterriss, Engalm and the surrounding mountain lodges were the preferred holiday destination in the early 1980s for the Governor of California. "Arnold came with Mama Aurelia to Pinsalm on several occasions and later he also came with his fiancée Maria Shriver", recalls Norbert Stadler sen., who has been the Hüttenwirt in the Pinsalm for many years, and who took Arnie to the Lamsenspitze and other mountain peaks on several occasions.
Arnie loved Viennese Schnitzel and – especially – the Kaiserschmarrn prepared by Herta Stadler. Entries and signs in the lodge guest book still recall this VIP guest today.
