Gallzein
Gallzein is situated on a terrace high above the River Inn, on the northern foothills of the Tux Voralps. The area which is inhabited stretches across seven towns which can be accessed via a road which runs from Schwaz or from Buch near Jenbach. The highest point in the district of Gallzein is the Gratzenjoch at 1998m. Bucherbach, which is also called Schwadererbach by the locals, flows through the district of Gallzein in a deep rift valley in the centre and flows into the River Inn close to Buch. To the east of the rift valley lie the hamlets of Hochgallzein, Niederleiten and Schöllerberg, to the west are the hamlets of Kogelmoos, Hof, Wahrbühel and Gattern with Nasen, Axdorf and Gasteig.
With barely 500 inhabitants, Gallzein is a small, quiet and relaxing village.
Whether you want to have a holiday on a farm, in private accommodation, or in a holiday apartment, you will be cordially welcomed by the friendly people here and very well looked after.
In summer there are lots of opportunities for relaxing in the natural surroundings. On walks, Nordic Walking, hikes, mountain tours and on mountain bike tours you get to see the beauty of the natural surroundings. The routes are very well looked after and are marked out, taking you past numerous benches through the mountainscape. Have a relaxing holiday, enjoy the sun and the views across the valley from Gallzein Plateau. In the Tirol holiday region of Silberregion Karwendel there are also many attractive sights to visit.
Gallzein also offers the chance to enjoy a very varied winter holiday. In Gallzein itself there is a toboggan run and a cross-country slope. The tobogganers from Gallzein have won awards and the toboggan run is also used for international competitions. The cross-country slope invites you to take part in winter sports while enjoying views to the Karwendel and the Rofan. The ski pistes are just a few minutes drive away.
