Wild, romantic rocky mountains, thundering waterfalls, emerald green water and a superb panorama in healthy mountain air will leave those who walk to the Wolfsklamm with an unforgettable impression.

The Wolfsklamm, with its 354 steps and wooden bridge is probably the most beautiful of its kind in the Alps. A hike through the gorge is an adventure which no visitor can miss out on. It's worth taking a closer look at this mountainscape which has retained much of its originality.

More than 100 years ago, on 11th August 1901 to be exact, the Wolfsklamm was consecrated in Stans as a „pearl in the Tirol Unterland“.

Following the gorge the pilgrimage path continues to St. Georgenberg, the oldest pilgrimage destination in Tirol. The conservation area of Karwendel Alpine park is located here. Just before you reach the monastery on the rock you pass the 'Hohe Brücke', a protected historic monument. The stone arch which dates from 1497 at that time supported the oldest bridge in Tirol.

The St. Georgenberg monastery came about from a settlement which was first mentioned in written documents which date back to the year 950. St. Georgenberg is a place of power and a centre of peace. The church is always open and church services are held regularly.

Every 13th day of the month (from May to October) the popular night-time pilgrimages take place from the Weng car park in Fiecht.

Walking time from Stans to St. Georgenberg is around 1.5 hours.
