Route outline
Park your car at Volksschule Vomperbach, opposite the church. The solar system – which is represented in artistic fashion – can now be discovered on a leisurely hike through Terfen’s valley forest, the Forchat. The expansion of the pine forest in the valley area is a special feature. The planet of the sun is shown at the start of the hike, and is a spectacular 14 metres in diameter. You now follow the planets as you hike, on a circuit route through the little forest, which ends close to the starting point with the smallest planet, Pluto. Information boards give you an insight of the natural surroundings of the individual planets. The planets are not only shown in their true scale, their distances from one another is also accurate. The route, which enjoys lovely views to the mountains in the Tuxer Voralps and the Karwendel, as well as the Inn valley, means it is ideally placed. There are benches where you can have a sit-down and Gasthof Föhrenhof, which is close to the starting point, provides a place to stop-off.
