Start and finish point
Pay car park at Brandstetterhof or Laurentius Church
Route outline
The starting point is in Stans either at the pay car-park at Brandstetterhof (€3.--/day), or free of charge at Laurentius Church (eastern village exit) – the route to Wolfsklamm is signposted from both car parks. This adventurous hike proceeds along mountain paths, trails and a ravine, along the impressive waterfalls and will get adults and children’s hearts pounding. The route climbs only slightly to begin with then after around 20 minutes ascent the real spectacle begins. Experience the power of the water up close - yet from a safe distance - finally reaching an idyllic streambed, where you can have a nice rest, and the children can play and explore.
Well recovered, you head across an impressive wooden bridge to the oldest pilgrimage area in Tirol, St. Georgenberg Monastery. Here in the inn you get to enjoy culinary delights beneath the ancient chestnut trees.
You then hike back to Stans via the crossroads to Wenig. Take the same route as you came up at first, then at the crossroads (across a small bridge) head along the wide pilgrimage path, until you reach the turn-off for Stans.
Stop-offs available in Stans at Landgasthof Brandstetterhof, Landgasthof Marschall and Restaurant Steiner. Please keep a watchful eye on your children at the ravine!
Special features: Wolfsklamm is a natural monument. Experts describe the Wolfsklamm as the most beautiful ravine in the Alps.
