Schwaz
There are a few routes in Schwaz which are set up as toboggan runs in winter.
One popular toboggan run is located in Schwaz on the Zintberg. Starting point for the toboggan run is the car park at the end of the mountain road. It goes from Schwaz up to the Zintberg and finishes close to Pirchnerast (opportunity for refreshments). The toboggan run goes straight up from the car park. First of all through the mountain forest with some views to the Karwendel, then the valley heads up into the mountain on the toboggan run which is around 3 km long. The Alpine area of Plumpmoos is at the top, providing an open view to Kellerjoch, the Kellerjochhütte and the surrounding mountainscape.
Another toboggan run starts at Burg Freundsberg (opportunity for refreshments here too). The toboggan run starts right at the car park and heads around Burg Freundsberg. It goes up to the Schlinglberg, past Gasthaus Schmadlegg. It is around 1.5 kilometres long. The special feature – lighting also ensures tobogganing fun in the evening.
Up from Gasthaus Schmadlegg (which also has a car park for guests) the toboggan run goes further up the so-called Egertboden via the Bruderwaldweg to Pillberg, to hotels where there is the opportunity to stop-off for refreshments. This toboggan run is around 4 kilometres in length. A superb mountain panorama awaits tobogganers up there.
When snow coverage is good and if you have the endurance required, you can combine both toboggan runs and toboggan from the mountain to Burg Freundsberg.
As an alternative there is a toboggan run in Schwaz on the Arzberg, where you can also use a lift to get you to the top. To get down use the toboggan run from Pillberg via the Bruderwaldweg, which branches off to the left to the starting point on the Arzberg – the right hand side takes you to Egertboden.
Pill
In Pill there are tobogganing routes in the district of Pillberg at the end of Pillbergstrasse. Car parking is also available. One route runs from the Hotel am Berg (also provides a chance for tobogganers to have some refreshments) on Bruderwaldweg, which ends in Schwaz. In winter it is set up as a toboggan run and heads down into the valley. Start of the toboggan run is the mountain station at Kellerjoch.
Those of you who want to can use the Kellerjochbahn to get to the top, and save the climb on the way back to Pillberg – however that can also be very relaxing, and as a group you can have lots of fun in the snow.
The Ochsenbründlweg toboggan run is situated very close to the Kellerjochbahn lift station. The little toboggan circuit takes around an hour to walk to. Fantastic views into the valley. See above for opportunities to stop-off for refreshments.
Kolssasberg
The romantic natural toboggan run goes from Kolsass to the snack station ‘Gartlach’ on the Kolsassberg. It takes around an hour to walk and is not too difficult. Having reached the top the snack station invites you in to have some refreshments, before you enjoy the thrilling trip back down to the village on your toboggan.

The managed toboggan hut in Jenbach is a must for tobogganing fans. The route heads to Achensee (Kasbachstraße/Achenseestraße), and the turn-off for the toboggan hut is signposted. The toboggan run is around 3 km in length. Those who don't want to cover the route on foot (around 45 minutes walk), can also get to the toboggan hut by taxi. The route is also illuminated in the evenings during hut opening hours.
