Route
Weerberg/Innerst - Weidener Hütte - MTB-section where you have to push the bike - Geiseljoch
Start and finish point
Innerst car park, Weerberg
Route outline
From Innerst car park, follow MTB 403 signposts. First destination is the Weidener
Hütte (often a stage for the Transalp cyclist) before cycling via the wonderfully located Nafingsee to Geiseljoch at 2292 m; there you can enjoy a dreamy view to the main ridge of the Alps. As ever with altitude locations expect sudden changes in the weather, so ALWAYS bring sufficient equipment (especially long over trousers and a wind jacket), along with a first aid kit, a repair kit and map material! On no account should you leave without a mobile phone! Option for a stop-off: on the tour Weidener Hütte which is located at the starting and end point, Gasthof "Innerst" and the snack stand at Oberhiendl. TIP: Since the Geiseljoch is relatively densely populated, it can take a good 35 minutes walk to reach the unnamed 2350 m summit toward Hobarjoch – which guarantees an even better view.
Characteristics: As per the signposted Route 404, 90% on well developed forest roads.
Characteristics:
As per signposted Route 403, 90% on forest trail, the remainder on trail and sections where you have to push the bike; before Weidener Hütte there are a few steep climbs.
