Route outline
The tour is number 586 on the signposted MTB route. The ascent is pleasurable when you head uphill through the larch wood via the tranquilly located town of Gartlach. There are lots of superb views into the valley and many opportunities to stop-off along the tour: Wirtshaus Gartlach, Hotel Jägerhof, Gasthof Hofer Stub´n.
Those who want to tackle the ascent on tarmac can venture on to the "Kolsaßberg classic" racing route and switch from the village square in Kolsaß via Merans on to Rettenbergstraße, past Hofer Stub'n (option to stop-off for refreshments) and Jägerhof (option to stop-off for refreshments) right up to Hohenlehen, where the finishing line of the race is also marked out with signposts.
Target time: 40 mins for Mittelfeld, 1 hour for leisure cyclists.
Characteristics:
Constant ascent on forest paths and tarmac to the highest point. Afterwards a descent of around 7 km on tarmac road.
