On the Alpsteig path**
Route
Stans - Weng - Farmstead - Alpsteig path - Vomperberg - Fiecht - Stans
Start and finish point
Outdoor swimming pool, Stans
Route outline
From Stans swimming pool the route heads steeply uphill to Weng, a town in the district of Weng. The journey continues via the farmstead on tarmac and is easy; after the farmstead the terrain becomes more challenging again (gravel road). See Tour 37 “Königsrunde”. The branch-off to the Alpsteig path soon follows on the left; from there the path runs almost horizontal. Definitely factor in a rest at the viewing areas! The route ends at Gasthof Alpsteig. The tarmac road seamlessly merges into this pleasurable circuit and then continues with a speedy descent. The journey through Fiecht heads via a technical and also very interesting connecting section (incl. a brief area where you need to push the bike) back to Stans to the starting point at the swimming pool.
Opportunities to stop-off: Landgasthof Marshall, Karwendelrast
Characteristics:
Tarmac roads and forest trails without any exceptional challenges.
