Route outline

From Buch you head uphill along the road to Gallzein. In Gallzein follow the signposted MTB Route 414. A stop-off near Kogelmoos at the unmanaged Lackenhütte will help with the crossing. In the relatively unknown Öxltal the impressive mountain backdrop the ‘Kellerjoch from behind’ awaits plucky mountainbikers – rugged and mind-blowing at the same time. The Kaunzalm which you reach next is managed, and at the nearby Öxlbach you can relax and clear your mind. A must for nature-lovers especially in spring from the end of April/start of May. Back in the valley you can stop-off in a beer garden at Gasthof Esterhammer in Buch. The descent stretches throughout Öxltal, providing a sturdy subsurface and great riding up to Schlittererberg; from there tarmac surface and steeper, yet in the forest; watch out for oncoming traffic! At Rotholz you get on to an old country road and back to the starting point in Buch near Jenbach.

Characteristics:

Level tour on forested roads, not many tarmac roads, stop-off at Kaunzalm recommended, parts on MTB route 414.
