Route outline
The climb heads to Arzberg, in the district of Schwaz, via the new and really steep Arzbergstraße. Via Niederberg (part of the town of Pill) you head down via the stone wall path to Pillbach, across a small concrete bridge, where the area then changes to become part of Weerberg, heading upwards to the district of Kreith. At around 960m altitude your route then branches off sharply to the left on to MTB route 405, which alternates on gravel and forest roads up to the unmanaged Dranwaldhütte. Afterwards you then have to push the bike on the short official pushing section through a fairy-tale forest. You can get on your bike again on the wide Wurfweg trail and head via three stream crossings to the Loasweg, which goes downhill. Branch-off at around 1435 m to the Hoferweg (not before heading uphill to Naunzalm).
After a pleasant passage through the forest there is an option to stop-off at Bio-Hotel Grafenast, Alpenhof Hubertus or Ferienhotel Frieden close to Hochpillberg car park. On the old toboggan run and the tarmac road from Egertboden (also a chance to stop-off there at Gasthaus Schmadelegg) there is a final exciting 800 metre altitude run on the section back to the starting point.
Characteristics:
70% tarmac, 27 % forest trail, 3% trail/pushing section.
