Route outline

On this dreamy tour in the Tuxer Voralps you are surrounded by Schwaz’s

local, viewing mountain, the Kellerjoch - you will be out of the saddle and then enjoy a long tarmac descent into Zillertal.

From Buch follow the old country road to Schwaz, get your bearings at Schloß

Freundsberg heading upwards, then via Egertboden there is a connecting forest road to Station Grafenast for the Kellerjochbahn. Option to stop-off at Bio-Hotel Grafenast, Hotel Frieden and Hotel Hubertus. MTB Route 412 levels out afterwards, heading via the Loasweg to Loas, the area around the Loassattel with the Gh. Loas and its notorious ‘Schnitzeln’, and Haus Gamsstein (ideal place to stay for travel groups). On the Zillertal side an almost continuous descent: first of all on very good forest road to Hochfügen, and from there at first flat, then ever steeper on tarmac up to Fügen.

On the Zillertal cycle path you can get back to the Inntal via Schlitterer bathing lake; in

Straß you keep to the left-hand side across the tracks of the Zillertalbahn, to get on to the old country road via Rotholz back to Buch.

Characteristics:

As per signposted Route 412 to Hochfügen, around 60% tarmac, 40% well looked-after forest road.
