Summer family holiday in the Silberregion Karwendel
A summer holiday with children in Silberregion Karwendel is something which is really quite special. On the one hand there are the surrounding mountains, the Karwendel and the Tuxer Alps, and the natural backdrop of the Alps – while on the other, there is its central location in the midst of a region in the heart of the Alps which is rich in culture, where there are lots of places to visit.
Active family holiday
Streams, ravines, forests, Alpine meadows – the entire region is a giant adventure playground. The natural surroundings are there to be discovered by the whole family on the family-friendly hikes. There are numerous trails which can be accessed by prams. These family hikes use sections of Alpine meadows on which you get to see Alpine farmers nurturing the landscape and you can also meet the cows – but don’t get too close, their sheer curiosity might give you a fright. You really should sample the lovely milk and cheese on the Alpine meadows!
Activities and fun doesn't come up short either. Climbing, mountain biking, canyoning and just being together with their peers is when teenagers feel at their best.
Bathing during a family holiday in the Silberregion Karwendel
When it gets really warm a trip to one of the outdoor pools is not to be missed. Three lovely facilities have different bathing pools available to choose from in the Silberregion Karwendel. And then there is the leisure centre in Weisslahn where the whole family can feel good. There is a sand pit for the littlest children right at the bathing lake. The ‘water games park’ with its mud pit is directly behind this. The water from the waterfall is guided over water wheels using various sluice gates – a joy for young and old master builders to behold. Parents get to sun themselves on the large sun loungers, with their children and the mountain panorama always in their line of sight. Then there is the landing stage in the bathing lake, the bathing island and very close by the beach volley court and the tennis facilities.
An adventure-filled family holiday with a free programme of leisure facilities
Four trained children’s supervisors provide guest children with an action-packed programme of events in the quality-approved ‘Familiennester’ in Stans and Weer. Child supervision is free of charge for all guest children who are staying in a guesthouse, holiday apartment or in a family hotel in the Silberregion Karwendel.
From mountain adventure days and trips to farms, pyjama parties and children’s discos, the programme of events on offer in the ‘Familiennester’ is rich in diversity. Children’s horse-riding sessions just can’t last long enough. Treasures found while panning for gold can be taken home and shown to friends.
There are also lots of sporting activities such as swimming and bowling championships, taster horse-rides, mini golf tournaments and children’s Olympics.
Karwendolin – the children’s friend
In Silberregion Karwendel there is still a living (and talking) mountain – Karwendolin. It is the mascot of the region and wins children’s hearts right from the off.
Tip: those who accept Karwendolin, this unusual Internet character and children’s favourite, on to their friends’ list on Facebook, will be kept up to date with the latest goings-on and will also learn something about this sporty, original, adventure-filled, historic and culturally interesting holiday region.
Sights and a family holiday
The many sights in the Silberregion Karwendel provide a great deal of diversity. Some of which are particularly interesting for children too. In Schloss Tratzberg, between Jenbach and Stansa, a little train takes you up to the castle. Having arrived there, headphones are available for guided tours through this authentically set-up castle. Children and their parents get a guided tour - while parents learn lots about the history and the past of Schloss Tratzberg, children hear exciting fairytales about the castle. A trip on the historic mountain railway to the silver mine in Schwaz is also a part of the great attractions in Tirol and is not to be missed during your family holiday. The guided tour for the whole family on the mountain takes around 90 minutes. Dads especially will be impressed by the Achensee Steam Cogwheel trains and the Zillertalbahn cable railway – children too will be amazed by these giants made out of steel. There are many other sights and cultural themes, but children – especially teenagers – also need a bit of a spark in a family holiday, otherwise they get too bored. In the Silberregion Karwendel there is fun and activity on offer in the guise of climbing, mountain biking, canyoning, or they can just hang out with other teenagers.
